Awesome trail horse for 1/2 lease. Great Snowmobile! - (Hydes, MD for sale in Baltimore, Maryland

$50

Hi!
Thanks for taking the time to view my posting (Not sure why I got flagged... leasing horses is perfectly allowed by Americanlisted (I asked the forum) and I am just trying to give enough information in order to find an appropriate person). I am offering my 18 year old paso fino/rocky mountain horse gelding, Napoleon, for half lease at $50 a month. I am specifically looking for someone who has experience in handling horses/riding but might not have a horse of their own right now, or be able to swing a more expensive lease cost. His lease price is negotiable to the RIGHT person, and will go towards the care of his feet, board, veterinary care, etc.
A bit about Napoleon:
I rescued him two years ago off a slaughter truck in PA and couldn't ask for a better partner and friend. At the time I got him, I really needed a confidence builder horse, as I was still mentally recovering from a bad fall a few years previous. He has taken great care of me, and is an EXCELLENT trail horse. I've ridden him in several state parks, on trail rides with 50+ other horses, and even through a wendy's drive through! He's got a serious 'been there, done that' attitude, and is about as bomb proof as a horse can get, however, I wouldn't recommend him for someone who has NEVER been on a horse before. A confident beginner or someone getting back into horses would be fine with him, but he is very smart and very lazy, lol. The worst he has ever done with me is shake his head and back up if he didn't feel like going out by himself, but once he figures out you're not going to let him get away with stuff like that, he settles right down. He has never bucked, reared, bolted, kicked or bitten (or offered to do any of those things), is easy to handle on the ground, and will go out by himself without too much of a fuss. Napoleon picks up all four feet, and is easy to groom, bridle, saddle and mount. He stands quietly single tied outside, and in cross ties in the barn (though sometimes he can get a little nervous if he's in there by himself... he had never been in a barn before I got him). Being a paso/rocky cross, he is gaited, but does trot as well, and is super smooth to ride (I have two fake vertebrae and a busted knee). He stands at 14.1h, however don't let his size dissuade you from coming to try him out! His last leasee is around 5'5, 5'6, and feels fine on him. He's built like a tank. ALSO! He's awesome at winter trail rides in the snow, and is very sure footed. Don't let the winter keep you from riding!
My current job situation only allows me to ride two days a week (usually tuesday and wednesday), so the rest of the week would be yours. I don't care how many days you come out to ride... take all five! He needs to be ridden (he's a bit pudgy at the moment, lol), so he might need to get in shape a bit before going out for four hour trail rides up and down hills, but once in shape, he goes all day. You would be welcome to use my tack and equipment or bring your own (provided it fits him). The only thing I ask is that you bring your own consumables like fly spray and detangler, or replace it if you use the last of mine. :) He is located in Hydes, MD, which is only 20-30 minutes from Baltimore city and several colleges (he'd be perfect for a college kid away from their own pony!), and is kept quite happily on field board. There are trails both on farm and off, as well as plenty of smaller pens and arenas to ride in (as well as a 55 acre paddock with woods and other fun things to ride through if you aren't secure enough to go out by yourself into the forest trails. :) ) The farm has a heated tack room with a bathroom and a shower. There are also other people to ride with, and we have sort of a phone tree thing if you want company out on the trails.
I will require a lease contract just to keep everything on the level, but it will be a month-to-month thing. My only requirement is that you give me a month's notice if you'd like to terminate the lease so I can find someone else.
I AM OPEN TO SOME NEGOTIATION ON THE LEASE PRICE! PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED! You can reach me by text or call at

between the hours of 8am and midnight, or email me at the address above. Please, no tire-kickers or people looking for a free pony ride.
Looking forward to hear from you!
EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has emailed me about looking for a horse for their kids and/or lessons, but I've never had a child on Napoleon before, so I cannot say with confidence that he would be a child safe mount. I don't have any children, and none of the barns I have ever been at with him have had small kids around. While he tolerates arena work, he is not a lesson horse either, and I do not have time to instruct someone on how to ride. I am looking for a responsible, reliable, independent adult leaser who, after coming out with me once or twice, would be confident and competent enough to handle him themselves after that.
HE IS NOT FOR SALE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Please don't email/text/call me wanting to buy him for your kid's christmas present. He is for lease only.
Location: Hydes, MD
